Things to Celebrate

Today would have been Rosemary Clooney’s birthday. I grew up watching her in “White Christmas.” She had a beautiful voice and was George Clooney’s aunt.

It’s World Turtle Day! I will gladly wear green in honor of turtles. I had a pet turtle, Henry, when I was young. I hope someone out there is dressing up like the Ninja Turtles.

It’s also National Taffy Day. Everyone should go buy some Laffy Taffy in honor of this event.

News to Know

There’s basically no hope for the unemployed youth, according to the International Labor Organization. Unemployment levels are almost as bad as in 2008-2009 when the market somewhat crashed. There are almost 75 million youth from the age of 15-24 unemployed. (Newser)

Scientists have successfully taken skin cells and turn them into a beating heart muscle.  They are hoping that one day they maybe able to cure heart failure with this new discovery. (Yahoo via Reuters)
